Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, DesignView, TMview and Orbit Intelligence, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Real procedures are studied: a state-of-the-art search for a suspension system, drafting claims for a steering mechanism patent, and registering a Community design for a fairing. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final Master's Thesis.

Standards covered: Spanish Patents Act 24/2015, Law 20/2003 on the Legal Protection of Industrial Design, Trade Marks Act 17/2001, Regulation (EC) 6/2002, Regulation (EU) 2017/1001, European Patent Convention, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), Trade Secrets Act 1/2019.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of the Spanish Patents Act 24/2015, the Industrial Design Act 20/2003 and the Trade Marks Act 17/2001 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, DesignView, TMview and Orbit Intelligence, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Master's Thesis with defence:Intellectual property strategy for a motorcycle manufacturer, defended before a panel.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
