Student life
Student life at SEIUM is designed as a second curriculum: practical, safe, and with real impact. Our clubs function as engineering teams + laboratories + communities, connected to industry and with a robust framework of safety, ethics, and sustainability. Here you learn by doing: you prototype, compete, publish, document, and present results just as you would in a professional program.
SEIUM model for clubs and teams
What is a club?
A student-led organization with academic and industry mentorship, access to labs and maker spaces, and an annual plan (technical roadmap, budget, KPIs, safety). Each club has:
- Board (presidenciBoard (chairmanship, technical, operations, security, finance, diversity).a, técnica, operaciones, seguridad, finanzas, diversidad).
- Faculty Advisor (professor) and Industry Mentor (partner).
- Technical plan (objectives, deliverables, tests, competition schedule).
- Safety plan (HSE/PSM, RAMS, laboratory permits, and track/water/air).
- Compliance pack (insurance, NDA if there is a partner, data use, export/dual-use if applicable).
- Sustainability (LCA/footprint, recycling, responsible purchasing).
Results that the market counts
- Professional portfolio (reports, design reviews, test plans), metrics, and telemetry.
- Co-curricular credentials and microbadges (welding, composites, HIL, CFD/HPC, seamanship, drone RPA, race data engineering, race strategy analytics, etc.).
- Publications (technical post mortems, student papers, best practice white papers).
- Employability (references, internships, fast-track to partners).
Sustainability (LCA/footprint, recycling, responsible purchasing).
SEIUM Maker Guild: design, manufacturing, and testing of prototypes; DFM/DfA, 3D printing, CNC, electronics, firmware.
Electronics & Embedded Systems: high-speed PCB, EMC pre-compliance, RTOS/Linux, TSN, CAN/CAN-FD.
Robotics & Automation: cobots, AMR/SLAM, 3D vision, grippers; cell with PLC/DCS/SCADA.
Data, AI & Simulation: MLOps, time series, CFD/FEA/HPC, digital twins of tracks, ports, or wind tunnels.
Energy & Batteries: packs, BMS, thermal, V2G/V2X; HV safety, supervised handling and abuse tests.
