Postgraduate Diploma in Lattice, Topology and Post-AM Validation
800-hour online Postgraduate Diploma in Lattice, Topology and Post-AM Validation. 8 modules covering ISO/ASTM 52910 design for additive manufacturing, ISO/ASTM 52911-1 design for metal powder bed and nTop. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Formulate topology optimisation problems with manufacturing constraints.
Design lattice structures and TPMS with graded properties.
Apply implicit modelling and generative design.
Simulate the behaviour of optimised components.
Inspect post-AM parts using tomography and metrology.
Validate components experimentally through numerical correlation.
Document the lifecycle of optimised parts.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which allows them to combine it with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is nTop, Altair Inspire and OptiStruct, Ansys Mechanical, Volume Graphics VGSTUDIO MAX, GOM Correlate, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for topology optimisation of brackets and nodes, CT inspection of printed parts, and static tests with digital image correlation. Assessment is continuous across modules, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Formulate topology optimisation problems with manufacturing constraints.
Design lattice structures and TPMS with graded properties.
Apply implicit modelling and generative design.
Simulate the behaviour of optimised components.
Inspect post-AM parts using tomography and metrology.
