How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it compatible with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Open3D, Point Cloud Library (PCL), CloudCompare, MeshLab, Geomagic Design X, in free, academic or evaluation versions. The tests are studied using real reverse engineering procedures for mechanical components, weld bead measurement with a laser profilometer, and digitisation of parts with structured light. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Understand the physical principles of triangulation, ToF and structured light.
Select the appropriate 3D technology for each application.
Calibrate laser sensors, ToF cameras and projector-camera systems.
Process and register point clouds using robust algorithms.
Reconstruct precise surfaces and CAD models from scans.
