Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so you can combine the programme with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is EMA3D, CST Studio Suite, COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Mechanical and MATLAB, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures: lightning strike zoning of an aircraft, assessment of composite structure protection, and planning of high-current and spark tests. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.

Standards covered: SAE ARP5412B, SAE ARP5414B, SAE ARP5415B, SAE ARP5416A, RTCA DO-160G (Sections 22 and 23), FAA AC 20-155A, FAA AC 20-53C, CS-25 (EASA).

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of SAE ARP5412B, SAE ARP5414B and SAE ARP5415B applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:EMA3D, CST Studio Suite, COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Mechanical and MATLAB, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete lightning protection design and certification strategy for a study aircraft, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
