Course in Corrosion Control on Restored Surfaces

The Course in Corrosion Control on Restored Surfaces focuses on applying specialised techniques for the protection and maintenance of surfaces that have previously been repaired or restored, covering the identification of corrosion mechanisms, the selection of protective coatings and the implementation of inspection methods to ensure the durability and longevity of structures. It includes the study of restoration materials, surface preparation procedures and the assessment of the effectiveness of applied protection systems, taking into account industry standards and norms. The course prepares professionals to prevent and control corrosion across a variety of applications, from manufacturing to the infrastructure sector.

The course offers a practical approach to the application of coatings, the use of inspection tools and an understanding of the environmental conditions that promote corrosion. It focuses on the correct selection of materials and techniques to optimise service life of restored surfaces, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring structural safety. It is based on understanding the electrochemical reactions and the factors affecting the rate of corrosion, preparing participants to make informed decisions in the field of anti-corrosion protection.

Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is PosiSoft, Excel advanced, ImageJ, Elcometer ElcoMaster, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for salt spray chamber, coating thickness measurement and cross-cut adhesion tests. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrating project.

Accredited laboratories(EN ISO/IEC 17025) with rotor rig, EMC/Lightning pre-compliance, HIL/SIL, vibration/acoustics.
Evidence-oriented final project:safety case, test plan, compliance dossier and operational limits.
Industry-led mentoring:lecturers with experience in training, , eVTOL/UAM and flight test.
Flexible format(hybrid/online), international cohorts and support from SEIUM Career Services.
Ethics and safety:with a safety-by-design approach, cyber-OT, DIH and compliance as core pillars.
