How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and a dedicated technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is HOMER Pro, System Advisor Model (SAM), DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, Python, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Assignments are based on real procedures for battery sizing by use case, verification of grid connection requirements, and planning of FAT, SAT and capacity tests. Assessment is continuous, per module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Compare battery technologies and chemistries for large-scale applications.
Size the power and energy of a BESS according to its use case.
Design the electrical architecture and auxiliary services of the plant.
Apply fire safety and separation criteria in site layout.
Verify compliance with grid connection requirements.

Frequently asked questions
The programme comprises 300 hours in total, spread over 3 to 5 months. That is between 10 and 15 hours a week on average, compatible with a full-time job.
You will work with HOMER Pro, System Advisor Model (SAM), DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, Python. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
An in-house SEIUM diploma on passing the continuous assessment and the integrative project. This is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are recognised towards the higher programme. Check the recognition policy when you enrol.
