Carry out global analyses of umbilicals in dynamic configurations.
Calculate local stresses in tubes, conductors and armour.
Estimate fatigue damage using S-N curves and rainflow counting.
Define full-scale qualification test programmes.
Implement in-service curvature monitoring systems.
Justify the fatigue life of a dynamic umbilical in a project.

How you'll learn
Training 100 % online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is OrcaFlex, SINTEF Ocean UFLEX, Abaqus, Flexcom, Python, in free, academic or evaluation versions. The tests are studied using real procedures for fatigue analysis of a dynamic umbilical, calculation of local stresses in the cross-section, and definition of a qualification test programme. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe the mechanical behaviour of umbilicals subjected to dynamic loads.
Carry out global analyses of umbilicals in dynamic configurations.
Calculate local stresses in tubes, conductors and armour.
Estimate fatigue damage using S-N curves and rainflow counting.
Define full-scale qualification test programmes.
