Vintage Transmission Diagnostics Course
Online 300-hour course in vintage transmission diagnostics. 6 modules covering ISO 20816-1 (measurement and evaluation of machine vibration), ISO 13373-1 (vibration condition monitoring) and advanced Excel. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Plan the diagnosis of an old transmission without unnecessary disassembly.
Interpret noises and vibrations to locate the origin of the fault.
Assess the condition of the clutch and the actuation system.
Diagnose the gearbox, synchronisers and selector.
Analyse the condition of the propeller shaft, axle and differential.
Use oil analysis as a diagnostic tool.
Write a report with a reasoned repair decision.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is advanced Excel, MATLAB (spectral analysis), Audacity (noise analysis), SKF Enlight / vibration analyser, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real road-test procedures, including noise analysis, measurement of play and clearances, oil analysis and metal debris analysis. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
