Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

The programme is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Bosch ESI[tronic], PicoScope, Innovate LogWorks and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures: pressure measurements on K-Jetronic systems, injector flow tests and oscilloscope diagnosis of analogue sensors. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final Master's Thesis.

Standards covered: EN 228, Directive 70/220/EEC, Real Decreto 892/2013, Directive 2014/45/EU, Directive 91/441/EEC, UN Regulation No. 83, SAE J1349, Directive 2009/30/EC.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of EN 228, Directive 70/220/EEC and Real Decreto 892/2013 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Bosch ESI[tronic], PicoScope, Innovate LogWorks and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Master's Thesis with defence:a complete reconditioning and tuning of a classic Jetronic injection system, with measurements and validation, defended before a panel.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

System research
Identify the Jetronic system fitted and compile its technical documentation.
Initial diagnosis
Diagnose the system with pressure gauges, oscilloscope and gas analyser using fault trees.
Component reconditioning
Recondition injectors, fuel distributor or control unit and verify them on a bench.
Tuning and validation
Set system pressures, idle and CO and validate the result on the rolling road.
Master's Thesis
