Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

The programme is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine your studies with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Car-O-Liner Vision, Spanesi Touch, Autodesk Fusion and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Procedures are studied on real cases of jig straightening of structures, liquid penetrant inspection of welds and spot weld peel tests. Assessment is continuous for each module, plus the final Master's Thesis.

Standards covered: ISO 5817, ISO 9606-1, ISO 6520-1, ISO 15609-1, ISO 14341, ISO 4063, ISO 3452-1, ISO 14373.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO 5817, ISO 9606-1 and ISO 6520-1 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Car-O-Liner Vision, Spanesi Touch, Autodesk Fusion and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Master's Thesis with defence:The documented structural repair of a classic frame or monocoque, from dimensional diagnosis to welding, quality control and protection, defended before a panel.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Structural diagnosis
Select the structure and carry out its dimensional and corrosion diagnosis.
Straightening plan
Plan the jig set-up, pulls and measurement sequence.
Welding procedures
Define the welding plan and procedures for each joint.
Execution and quality control
Carry out the repair, inspect the welds and apply protection.
Master's Thesis
Bring the project together in the thesis report, defended before a panel.
