Electrical diagnostics course using a multimeter for motorcycles
Online course of 300 hours in electrical diagnosis of motorcycles with a multimeter. 6 modules covering safe multimeter use, basic measurements, charging and starting diagnosis, sensor and actuator diagnosis, and fault-finding methods, with an assigned technical tutor.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Use the multimeter safely and accurately.
Measure voltage, current, resistance and voltage drops.
Diagnose the charging and starting system.
Test sensors and actuators against reference values.
Apply a systematic fault-finding method.
Record measurements on diagnostic sheets.
Produce a complete electrical diagnostic report.
Who it's for
- Motorcycle auto electricians who want a more rigorous measurement method.
- Diagnostic technicians handling charging, sensor and wiring faults.
- Motorcycle mechanics looking to solve electrical faults without guesswork.
- Fleet maintenance technicians keeping delivery motorcycles on the road.
- Restoration technicians tracing faults in older wiring looms.
- Workshop technical trainers teaching diagnosis to apprentices.
- Engineering or science graduates aiming to enter the repair workshop sector.
What you'll work with
- IEC 61010-1 (safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use)
- IEC 61010-2-033 (particular requirements for hand-held multimeters)
- ISO 16750-2 (road vehicles — environmental conditions and testing for electrical equipment — electrical loads)
- ISO 6722 (road vehicles — 60 V and 600 V single-core cables)
- ISO 8820 (road vehicles — fuse-links)
- UNECE Regulation No. 53 (installation of lighting and light-signalling devices on L3 vehicles)
- Fluke Connect
- PicoScope 7 Automotive
- KiCad
- Microsoft Excel

How you'll learn
The course is delivered 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so it fits around your job.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Fluke Connect, PicoScope 7 Automotive, KiCad and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures: diagnosing the charging system, measuring sensors and actuators, and locating short circuits and open circuits. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.
Standards covered: IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-033, ISO 16750-2, ISO 6722, ISO 8820, UNECE Regulation No. 53.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
