Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, making it compatible with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is SAP2000, ANSYS Mechanical, ARTeMIS Modal, MATLAB Simulink and Dewesoft X, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied on real procedures such as sizing a tuned mass damper for a pedestrian footbridge, a forced vibration test on a long-span floor and the design of a floating slab for a metro tunnel. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: EN 15129:2018, ISO 10137:2007, EN 1990 Annex A2, EN 1998-1, ASCE/SEI 7-22 Chapter 18, ISO 2631-2, Sétra Footbridges Guide 2006, DIN 4150-3.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of EN 15129:2018, ISO 10137:2007 and EN 1990 Annex A2 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:SAP2000, ANSYS Mechanical, ARTeMIS Modal, MATLAB Simulink and Dewesoft X, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete vibration mitigation project, from dynamic characterisation and a calibrated model to device selection, sizing, supply specification and testing and maintenance plans, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
