Course in Preservation of Original Patina
300-hour online course in preservation of original patina. 6 modules covering the FIVA Turin Charter, EN 15898 (cultural heritage conservation: terms) and Agisoft Metashape (photogrammetric documentation). Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this programme. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Define patina and justify its historical value.
Diagnose surface condition using non-invasive methods.
Apply cleaning techniques that preserve the vehicle's history.
Stabilise and protect original surfaces against deterioration.
Decide on minimal and reversible partial interventions.
Establish conditions of use and display compatible with conservation.
Document interventions in line with conservation criteria.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and a assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to fit around work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Agisoft Metashape (photogrammetric documentation), X-Rite Color iQC (colour measurement), advanced Excel (condition sheets), Adobe Lightroom (photographic documentation), in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures: cleaning trials on small areas, gloss and colour measurement before and after, and stabilisation of surface corrosion. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Define patina and justify its historical value.
Diagnose surface condition using non-invasive methods.
Apply cleaning techniques that preserve the vehicle's history.
Stabilise and protect original surfaces against deterioration.
Decide on minimal and reversible partial interventions.
