Scan-to-CAD Conversion Course
Online 300-hour course in scan-to-CAD conversion. 6 modules covering ISO 10303-242 (STEP AP242), ISO 16792 (digital product definition data) and Geomagic Design X. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this programme. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Prepare and repair meshes obtained from 3D scanning.
Rebuild parametric geometry and surfaces from the mesh.
Correct wear and deformation to recover the design intent.
Apply dimensional and geometric tolerances to the resulting model.
Verify the model against the scan using deviation maps.
Export the model in neutral formats suitable for manufacturing.
Archive the model and its documentation for future use.

How you'll learn
100% online training on the SEIUM Institute campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Geomagic Design X, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, GOM Inspect (ZEISS), in free, academic or evaluation versions. Case studies are based on real procedures for surface reconstruction from meshes, scan-to-model comparison with deviation maps, and prototype fabrication for verification. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Where this takes you

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours, spread over 3 to 5 months. That is an average of 10 to 15 hours per week, compatible with a full-time job.
You work with Geomagic Design X, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, GOM Inspect (ZEISS). Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
An SEIUM Institute diploma on passing the continuous assessment and the integrating project. It is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are recognised in the advanced programme. Check the recognition policy when you enrol.
