Course in Composite Repair in Competition

The Course in Composite Repair in Competition focuses on the repair of composite structures in motor and sports competition. It covers the use of composite materials such as carbon fibre and glass fibre. It focuses on repair, laminating, curing and finishing techniques, using specific tools and equipment. It is aimed at the restoration of damage to bodywork, aerodynamic parts and structural components of high-performance vehicles, ensuring structural integrity and performance.

The course includes practical work in handling epoxy resins, carbon fabrics and forming techniques, preparing participants to identify, assess and solve problems in composite structures. It provides knowledge of safety regulations and standards applicable in the competition sector, as well as the use of diagnostic tools and simulation. This course enables participants to work in roles such as composite technicians, specialist mechanics and team managers, optimising the performance and safety of vehicles.

Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Fully 100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is ANSYS Composite PrepPost, Siemens Fibersim, Rhinoceros 3D, Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real stepped repair procedures on a carbon sandwich panel, ultrasonic inspection of a delamination, and flexural testing of repaired specimens. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.

Accreditable laboratories(EN ISO/IEC 17025) with a rotor test rig, EMC/lightning pre-compliance, HIL/SIL, vibration/acoustics.
Master's Thesis focused on evidence:safety case, test plan, compliance dossier and operational limits.
Industry-mentored:lecturers with experience in training, , eVTOL/UAM and flight test.
Flexible format(hybrid/online), international cohorts and support from SEIUM Career Services.
Ethics and safety:a safety-by-design approach, cyber-OT, DIH and compliance as pillars.
