How you'll learn
Fully 100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded lessons and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is DNV Nauticus Hull, Bureau Veritas VeriSTAR Hull, DNV ShipManager, AutoCAD, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied using real thickness measurement procedures in ballast tanks, annual machinery surveys in port, and a simulated Port State Control inspection. Assessment is continuous per module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Explain the harmonised system of ship surveys and certification.
Plan hull and machinery surveys throughout the class cycle.
Assess corrosion and thickness diminution against renewal criteria.
Apply non-destructive testing techniques to naval structures and components.
Supervise repairs in accordance with class-approved procedures.
