SEEMP Plans and Emissions Reduction Course
The SEEMP Plans and Emissions Reduction Course focuses on understanding and applying the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP), which is essential for regulatory compliance and emissions reduction in the maritime sector. It explores strategies and technologies for improving energy efficiency, such as route and speed optimisation, propulsion management and the use of alternative fuels, all in line with IMO (International Maritime Organization) regulations. It concentrates on the development, implementation, monitoring and updating of the SEEMP, including data analysis and reporting on the ship's energy performance.
The course equips participants to identify and evaluate energy-saving measures, from improvements in vessel design and operation to the use of innovative technologies. It promotes the application of analysis tools and fuel consumption monitoring for strategic decision-making. The aim is to train professionals capable of managing the energy efficiency of a fleet, reducing environmental impact and meeting maritime sector decarbonisation targets.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do

How you'll learn
100% online training on the SEIUM Institute campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake period, which makes it possible to combine the programme with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is DNV Emissions Connect, NAPA Fleet Intelligence, StormGeo s-Insight, Python with pandas, in free, academic or evaluation versions. The exercises are based on real procedures for preparing a SEEMP with a CII implementation plan, hull and propeller performance analysis, and calculation of emissions costs under the ETS. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Understand the structure and requirements of the SEEMP.
Select operational emissions reduction measures.
Prioritise technical measures according to their marginal abatement cost.
Monitor energy performance using reliable data.
Apply the DCS, MRV and ETS reporting systems.
