How you'll learn
Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which allows the programme to be combined with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC, ETAP (Harmonic Analysis), MATLAB/Simulink, PQView, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures from measurement campaigns with class A analysers, resonance studies and passive filter design, and assessment of emissions at the point of connection. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Characterise the main power quality disturbances and their sources.
Calculate total harmonic distortion and demand distortion at a point of connection.
Identify series and parallel resonances through impedance sweeps.
Plan measurement campaigns in accordance with IEC 61000-4-30.
Assess harmonic and flicker emissions against regulatory limits.

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 800 hours, spread over 6 to 8 months. That is an average of 10 to 15 hours per week, compatible with full-time work.
Work is carried out with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD/EMTDC, ETAP (Harmonic Analysis), MATLAB/Simulink, PQView. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
A SEIUM diploma upon passing continuous assessment and the integrating project. It is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area can be credited towards the advanced programme. Please check the credit transfer policy when you enrol.
