Postgraduate Diploma in BIM-Naval, MBD and Parametric Libraries
Online 800-hour Postgraduate Diploma in BIM-Naval, MBD and Parametric Libraries. 8 modules covering ISO 10303 (STEP, product data exchange), ISO 10303-218 (STEP AP218, ship structures) and AVEVA Marine. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Explain the digital transformation of the naval design cycle.
Model the naval product in 3D with construction criteria.
Apply model-based definition (MBD) instead of 2D drawings.
Create parametric libraries of naval components.
Automate repetitive design tasks through programming.
Integrate the model with PLM systems and STEP exchange formats.
Plan the implementation of model-based design in a shipyard.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine the programme with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is AVEVA Marine, Siemens NX, CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE, Rhinoceros 3D with Grasshopper, Python, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures for 3D naval product modelling, pilot MBD implementation in a shipyard, and block automation using parametric libraries. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Explain the digital transformation of the naval design cycle.
Model the naval product in 3D with construction criteria.
Apply model-based definition (MBD) instead of 2D drawings.
Create parametric libraries of naval components.
Automate repetitive design tasks through programming.
Where this takes you
