Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so the programme can be combined with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Isograph FaultTree+, ReliaSoft BlockSim, Adelard ASCE, Cameo Safety and Reliability Analyzer and Medini Analyze, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Practical work is based on real procedures for building hazard logs and quantitative analyses, constructing GSN safety cases and performing RAMS analysis of land platforms. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final Master's Thesis.

Standards covered: MIL-STD-882E, DEF STAN 00-56, IEC 61508, EN 50126, Goal Structuring Notation Community Standard v3, MIL-STD-1472H, IEC 60812, ISO 26262.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of MIL-STD-882E, DEF STAN 00-56 and IEC 61508 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Isograph FaultTree+, ReliaSoft BlockSim, Adelard ASCE, Cameo Safety and Reliability Analyzer and Medini Analyze, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Master's Thesis with defence:A complete safety case for a land system, covering hazard log, quantitative and RAMS analysis and a certification plan, defended before a panel.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
