How you'll learn
Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so it is compatible with full-time work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, CODESYS, SOEM, Wireshark and the EtherCAT Conformance Test Tool, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures for configuring EtherCAT networks with servo drives, measuring synchronisation with distributed clocks and diagnosing communication faults. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final Master's Thesis.
Standards covered: IEC 61158-3-12, IEC 61784-2, IEC 61784-3-12, IEC 61800-7-201:2015, IEC 61800-5-2:2016, ETG.1000, ISO 13849-1:2023.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
