How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so the programme fits around your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Minitab, MATLAB, LIMS LabWare and JMP, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures: permeation testing with simulants, liquid penetration testing and statistical validation of a material lot. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.

Standards covered: EN 943-1, EN 14605, EN ISO 6529, EN 14126, EN 14387, NFPA 1994, ISO 16602, EN 1073-2.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of EN 943-1, EN 14605, EN ISO 6529 and EN 14126 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Minitab, MATLAB, LIMS LabWare and JMP, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a validation project for a CBRN protective material, from regulatory requirements and statistical test design to ergonomic assessment and technical file, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Material and use definition
Define the protective material, its intended use and the applicable standards.
Test plan
Plan permeation and penetration tests to EN ISO 6529 using safe simulants.
Statistical design
Design lot sampling and acceptance criteria and analyse simulated results.
Ergonomic assessment
Evaluate heat stress, fit and compatibility with other components.
Final project
Deliver the complete validation dossier and technical file, reviewed by your tutor.
