Course in Setup Strategies for Off-Road Vehicles
Online 300-hour course in setup strategies for off-road vehicles. 6 modules covering FIA Appendix J, Article 283 (safety equipment for off-road vehicles), FIA Appendix J, Article 285 (Group T1 off-road vehicles) and MoTeC i2. Tutor assigned and enrolment open.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Define what a setup is and which parameters make it up.
Adjust springs, dampers and bump stops according to the terrain.
Configure geometry and steering for each type of test.
Select tyres and pressures and adjust the transmission.
Apply a data-driven test method.
Carry out set-up work during a test under technical regulations.
Document a complete setup in a final project.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded lectures and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MoTeC i2, Shock Tools, MATLAB, Advanced Excel, AiM Race Studio, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures from test sessions with data acquisition, damper dynamometer and tyre pressure set-up. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Define what a setup is and which parameters make it up.
Adjust springs, dampers and bump stops according to the terrain.
Configure geometry and steering for each type of test.
Select tyres and pressures and adjust the transmission.
Apply a data-driven test method.

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours spread over 3 to 5 months. That is between 10 and 15 hours per week on average, compatible with full-time work.
The course uses MoTeC i2, Shock Tools, MATLAB, Advanced Excel and AiM Race Studio. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
An SEIUM own diploma upon passing the continuous assessment and the integrative project. It is in-house training, not an official title issued by the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or Postgraduate Diploma in the same area are recognised towards the advanced programme. Consult the recognition policy when you enrol.
