Course in International Standards for Ballistic Testing
Online course of 300 h in international standards for ballistic testing. 6 modules covering NIJ Standard 0101.06 (ballistic resistance of body armour), STANAG 4569 (protection levels for vehicles) and LS-DYNA. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Explain the fundamentals of terminal ballistics as applied to protection.
Compare personal protection standards and their classification levels.
Interpret standards for vehicle and structural protection.
Analyse test methodologies and the statistical treatment of results.
Apply accreditation requirements to a testing laboratory.
Evaluate the traceability and uncertainty of test results.
Prepare a test plan in accordance with the applicable standard.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine the course with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is LS-DYNA, ANSYS Autodyn, Minitab, MATLAB, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures from an accredited protection testing laboratory, statistical analysis of V50 results and laboratory accreditation audits. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
