Course in Ethics in CBRN Scenario Simulation
Online 300-hour course in ethics in CBRN scenario simulation. 6 modules covering ISO 22398 (exercise guidelines), ISO 22320 (emergency management) and ALOHA. Personal tutor assigned and enrolment open.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Describe the use of simulation in CBRN incident preparedness.
Assess the validity and uncertainty of the models used.
Manage sensitive scenario information responsibly.
Integrate fairness criteria and vulnerable populations into exercises.
Apply the institutional framework of civil protection and public health.
Communicate simulation results without causing unjustified alarm.
Design a responsible CBRN exercise.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is ALOHA, CAMEO Chemicals, QGIS, AnyLogic, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Case studies cover real CBRN tabletop exercise procedures, uncertainty analysis of dispersion models and external emergency plan reviews. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe the use of simulation in CBRN incident preparedness.
Assess the validity and uncertainty of the models used.
Manage sensitive scenario information responsibly.
Integrate fairness criteria and vulnerable populations into exercises.
Apply the institutional framework of civil protection and public health.

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours spread over 3 to 5 months. That is an average of 10 to 15 hours per week, compatible with a full-time job.
You work with ALOHA, CAMEO Chemicals, QGIS, AnyLogic. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
An SEIUM own diploma upon passing continuous assessment and the integrative project. It is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are credited towards the advanced programme. Check the credit transfer policy when you enrol.
