Course in Corrosion Diagnosis of Steel Reinforcement
Online course of 300 hours in corrosion diagnosis of steel reinforcement in concrete, with 6 modules covering corrosion mechanisms, inspection planning, non-destructive and laboratory testing, residual service life and repair criteria under EN 1504, with an assigned technical tutor.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Explain carbonation-induced and chloride-induced corrosion mechanisms in reinforced concrete.
Plan an inspection and diagnosis campaign with justified sampling criteria.
Apply and interpret corrosion potential, resistivity and corrosion rate tests.
Determine the carbonation front and chloride profile from cores.
Estimate residual service life using initiation and propagation models.
Propose repair and protection strategies in accordance with EN 1504.
Write a technical diagnosis report that can be defended before the owner.

How you'll learn
100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so it can be combined with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is advanced Excel, Python (NumPy, Matplotlib), QGIS and AutoCAD, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures for inspecting reinforced concrete structures, construction materials laboratory work and electrochemical corrosion testing. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.
Standards covered: EN 1504, Código Estructural (RD 470/2021), EN 206, ASTM C876, RILEM TC 154-EMC, UNE 112011, ISO 12696.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
