Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable materials, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so you can combine the programme with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Fibersim, CATIA Composites Design, ANSYS Composite PrepPost, Olympus OmniScan and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Cases are studied on real procedures: scarf repair of a carbon-fibre panel, ultrasonic inspection of a wing after impact and cure planning between race sessions. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: CMH-17; ASTM D7136; ASTM D7137; ASTM D3039; ISO 14125; ASTM E2533; Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of CMH-17, ASTM D7136 and ASTM D7137 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Fibersim, CATIA Composites Design, ANSYS Composite PrepPost, Olympus OmniScan and Microsoft Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete repair of a damaged composite racing part, from damage assessment to a standard procedure, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Damage assessment
Describe the damaged part and assess the extent of the damage.
Repair design
Design the repair and define the execution procedure.
Curing plan
Plan the cure to fit the available time between sessions.
Verification and recording
Verify the repair, record it and analyse the repair times.
Final project
Present the resulting standard procedure and report for final review with your tutor.

A SEIUM Institute certificate, awarded on passing the continuous assessment and the final project. It is SEIUM's own qualification, not an official state degree; its recognition depends on the programme completed and the regulations of each country.

Yes. Modules passed are recognised in a higher programme in the same area (postgraduate diploma or master's). Ask about the recognition policy when you enrol.

No prior qualification is required: you only need an internet connection, a computer able to run the programme software and English sufficient to read technical standards.

Start dates are set by SEIUM's faculty for each intake. Our admissions team will confirm the next available date when you apply.
