SEIUM Univesity

SEIUM — International University of Advanced Multimodal Engineering’s participation in international projects and consortia is one of the core pillars of its research and transfer strategy.

Our university is not limited to technical training; it acts as an active player in global technology development, collaborating with governments, industry, regulatory agencies, and leading universities across all five continents.

SEIUM projects cover critical sectors such as sustainable mobility, energy, aeronautics, defence, applied AI, advanced simulation, and autonomous robotics.

They integrate an ethical and sustainable vision under the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), and ESG sustainability.

Philosophy and international reach

International philosophy and reach SEIUM positions itself as a global hub for applied innovation, participating in collaborative research programmes that connect science, industry, and regulation. Each consortium in which the university participates is designed under a key principle: “Transform scientific knowledge into certifiable, safe, and sustainable technical solutions.”

The university operates simultaneously across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, adapting to the regulatory frameworks of EASA, IMO, UNECE, SAE, ETSI, ITAR/EAR, ISO, and EN.

Its participation spans from fundamental research (TRL 2–3) to industrial validation (TRL 7–9), ensuring that developed innovations effectively reach the market and contribute to the global competitiveness of its partners.

SEIUM is both a coordinating entity and a participant in high-impact European programmes under the Horizon Europe, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Clean Aviation JU, SESAR, and European Defence Fund (EDF) frameworks.

 

Research areas

  • Sustainable mobility and decarbonisation: electrification, green hydrogen, e-fuels, and materials recyclability.

International Standards & Technical Consortia (SAE, ETSI, UNE, ISO)

SEIUM actively contributes to the definition and evolution of international standards, integrating its research into technical and standards-setting groups.

  • ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute): development of protocols for V2X, 5G, and vehicle cyb
  • UNE / ISO / CEN: collaboration on standardisation for composite materials, ethical AI, digital twins, and RAMS engineering.
  • UNECE WP.29: certification of automated vehicles and regulation of safety-critical software.
  • IEC / IEEE: technical collaboration on electromagnetic compatibility standards and HIL/SIL validation.

SEIUM contributes its expertise in complex systems engineering, digitalisation, and certification as a bridge between academia, industry, and regulatory bodies.

Regulatory Agencies and Sector Programmes (EASA, IMO, UNECE)

The university maintains agreements and technical participation with global regulatory agencies, integrating its research within the most demanding certification and testing frameworks.

Collaborations:

  • EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency): validation of control algorithms and safe aerial autonomy (UAS, eVTOL, AI Safety).
  • IMO (International Maritime Organization): contributions to studies on maritime emissions, hydrodynamics, and anti-corrosion materials.
  • UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe): cooperation on sustainable mobility projects and WP.29 standards.
  • NATO / EU Defence: technical advisory on dual-use systems and energy resilience.
  • ESA (European Space Agency): development of propulsion subsystems and thermal simulation for small satellites.

SEIUM not only complies with standards, but also actively contributes to creating them, becoming a university with recognised technical authority in regulation.
