SEIUM Projects & Consortia

.

SEIUM Univesity

SEIUM — International University of Advanced Multimodal Engineering’s participation in international projects and consortia is one of the core pillars of its research and transfer strategy.

Our university is not limited to technical training; it acts as an active player in global technology development, collaborating with governments, industry, regulatory agencies, and leading universities across all five continents.

SEIUM projects cover critical sectors such as sustainable mobility, energy, aeronautics, defence, applied AI, advanced simulation, and autonomous robotics.

They integrate an ethical and sustainable vision under the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), and ESG sustainability.

Philosophy and international reach

European Projects · Horizon Europe / CEF / Clean Aviation / EDF

SEIUM is both a coordinating entity and a participant in high-impact European programmes under the Horizon Europe, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Clean Aviation JU, SESAR, and European Defence Fund (EDF) frameworks.

Research areas

SAS works alongside ESA, EASA, and European aerospace clusters to advance sustainability, electrification, and aerial autonomy.

Examples of active programmes

HORIZON-CL5-2024-D6-01: “Zero Emission Propulsion Systems for Regional Aviation”

CEF Transport 2025: “Smart Multimodal Corridors for European Logistics”

EDF-2024-DA-AIR: "Autonomous Aerial Surveillance & Decision Systems".

Clean Aviation JU: "Hybrid-Electric Propulsion for Mid-Range Aircraft"

SESAR 3: “U-Space Advanced Air Traffic Simulation Environments”

SEIUM Rol

Technical coordination (Work Package Leader) in simulation, AI, and experimental validation.

Development of digital twins and test benches (HIL/SIL).

Integration of EN/ISO/UNECE standards for certification.

Technical talent development through dual industry–academia programmes.

Impact: more than 45 active Horizon Europe projects, with over €30 million in competitive funding returns and more than 200 industrial partners.

International Standards & Technical Consortia (SAE, ETSI, UNE, ISO)

SEIUM actively contributes to the definition and evolution of international standards, integrating its research into technical and standards-setting groups.

Key participation:

SEIUM contributes its expertise in complex systems engineering, digitalisation, and certification as a bridge between academia, industry, and regulatory bodies.

Regulatory Agencies and Sector Programmes (EASA, IMO, UNECE)

The university maintains agreements and technical participation with global regulatory agencies, integrating its research within the most demanding certification and testing frameworks.

Collaborations:

SEIUM not only complies with standards, but also actively contributes to creating them, becoming a university with recognised technical authority in regulation.

National and Regional Projects · CDTI / MINCOTUR / PERTE

Within Spain and Latin America, SEIUM works closely with CDTI, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the PERTE for Industrial Decarbonisation, and national technology agencies.
