Course in Reverse Engineering Applied to Classic Components
Online 300-hour course in reverse engineering applied to classic components. 6 modules covering ISO 1101 (geometrical tolerances), ISO 286-1 (ISO system of limits and fits) and Geomagic Design X. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this programme. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Define the scope and limitations of reverse engineering for classic components.
Study the original part to identify function, wear and modifications.
Obtain the geometry through scanning and measurement and rebuild a CAD model.
Determine the material and manufacturing process of the original part.
Manufacture and validate the rebuilt part against the original.
Manage the industrial property and ethical aspects of reproduction.
Carry out a complete reverse engineering project.

How you'll learn
100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine the course with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Geomagic Design X, ZEISS INSPECT, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Agisoft Metashape, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures: 3D scanning of an original component, CAD reconstruction with deviation analysis, material identification and validation of the part. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Frequently asked questions
The programme comprises 300 hours in total, spread over 3 to 5 months. That is between 10 and 15 hours a week on average, compatible with full-time work.
You will work with Geomagic Design X, ZEISS INSPECT, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Agisoft Metashape. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
A SEIUM diploma of your own upon passing the continuous assessment and the integrating project. It is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are recognised towards the higher programme. Check the recognition policy when you enrol.
