Sled Testing and Impact Dummies Course
Online 300-hour course in sled testing and impact dummies. 6 modules covering 49 CFR Part 572 (anthropomorphic dummies), SAE J211 (instrumentation for impact tests) and DIAdem. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Describe how sled test facilities operate.
Distinguish the types of anthropomorphic dummies and their applications.
Apply instrumentation and filtering requirements according to SAE J211.
Calculate injury criteria such as HIC, Nij and thoracic deflection.
Plan tests for belts, seats and child restraints.
Correlate sled results with multibody simulation.
Carry out a complete sled test project.

How you'll learn
{"100 % online"} training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is DIAdem, MADYMO, TEMA, LS-DYNA, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for sled catapult acceleration, dummy calibration and high-speed video. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours spread over 3 to 5 months. That is between 10 and 15 hours per week on average, compatible with full-time work.
You work with DIAdem, MADYMO, TEMA, LS-DYNA. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
A SEIUM own diploma upon passing the continuous assessment and the integrative project. It is in-house training, not an official Ministry qualification.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or Postgraduate Diploma in the same area are credited towards the higher programme. Check the recognition policy when enrolling.
