SEIUM

SEIUM is an international university that is bilingual by design, with teaching and technical documentation developed for global projects and regulatory ecosystems (UNECE/ISO/IEC/EASA/IMO/IAEA…). Our programmes are delivered primarily in English (EN) and Spanish (ES), with German (DE) pathways already available in selected qualifications and a phased rollout in Russian (RU) and Mandarin Chinese (ZH). All of this is supported by a technical language framework: glossaries, style guides, captioning, standardised terminology, and documentation templates.

Language offering by programme

Primary language for master’s programmes, diplomas, and globally oriented courses; references and standards are usually in EN.

Strong presence across programmes in Europe and Latin America, supported by original materials and reviewed technical translations.

 
 

Available across the Automotive, Rail & Smart Cities, and Energy pathways, especially for DACH ecosystems.

Academic language policy (clear and practical)

Language of instruction

It will match the language of the pathway (EN/ES/DE; RU/ZH in deployment).

Materials

Slides, handbooks, standards, and templates in the pathway language and, where required by the standard, with additional technical English.

Deliverables and exams

In the pathway language; a mandatory executive abstract in English for master’s and bachelor’s final projects, regardless of the pathway.

Defences and reviews

They will be conducted in the pathway language; if there is a mixed panel, bilingual delivery is enabled (EN + pathway language).

Mobility between pathways

It is possible to change language by module/cohort if you meet the proficiency requirement and there are places available.

Language proficiency requirements (admission)

We accept international test results and/or a technical interview:

  • EN: IELTS ≥ 6.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 90, Cambridge C1, or a technical interview if you have previously studied in English.
  • ES: DELE B2/C1 or an interview; native speakers or graduates of ES programmes do not require a test.
  • DE: TestDaF 4×4 / Goethe C1 or an interview.
  • RU/ZH (where applicable): internal assessments plus bridge modules.

If your technical profile is strong but you are unsure about the language, we offer Refresher Bootcamps (4–8 weeks) focused on terminology and technical writing.

Technical terminology and standardisation (our differentiator)

SEIUM engineering is standards-driven. That is why we ensure terminological consistency:

SEIUM glossaries by vertical (auto/moto/rail/naval/aero/space/energy/robotics/data/SDV/RAMS/IAEA/IEC/UNECE), with EN–ES–DE terms (and RU/ZH in progress), controlled synonyms, acronyms, and mapping to standards.

Units, symbols, decimal notation, torque maps, safety case vs. safety dossier, etc.

Writing Lab: technical writing tutorials (reports, master’s/bachelor’s final projects, papers, design notes).

Oral Tech Clinics: 10-minute stand-ups to practise technical pitching and defending engineering decisions in EN/ES/DE.

Bridge modules (8–20 h): standards-based vocabulary (DO-178C/254, ISO 26262/SOTIF, IEC 62443, EN 17025, IAEA), equivalences, and examples.

Regional cohorts and time zones

  • EU / AMER / APAC cohorts by language, with compatible synchronous time windows.
  • Asynchronous delivery is available across all pathways; synchronous sessions run in region-set time slots.
  • Global events with EN↔ES↔DE translation, and RU/ZH on demand.

Publications, final projects, and international employment

Submissions in the pathway language plus an English abstract (mandatory). If the host company requires English, all documentation will be in EN.

Language support for EN journals and patent offices, including review of nomenclature and claims.

Technical CV workshops in EN/ES/DE, mock interviews, and role-play with hiring managers.

 
 
 

Accessibility and linguistic equity

  • WCAG 2.2 AA across the virtual campus and in PDFs with semantic tagging.
  • Reasonable adjustments: extra time in assessments if the pathway language is not your native language; dictionaries/glossaries allowed except in language tests.
  • Language scholarships: for bridge modules and official certifications.

RU/ZH roadmap (phased and realistic)

Phase 1

RU/ZH glossaries and subtitles in core courses.

Phase 2

Seminars and office hours with interpretation; assessments available in RU/ZH.

Phase 3

Full RU/ZH pathways in prioritised verticals (Energy & Grids, SDV/ADAS, Electromobility/Batteries).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

No. The qualification is the same; the diploma supplement states the language of instruction.

Yes, if you meet the required level; you will need approval from the programme director.
